well, we survived an earthquake and a hurricane...{BRAD}

This week was full of many exciting "firsts" at the Kutz house...

Last Monday Max learned how to tie his first shoe laces.  And although I am sure this just brings my baby one step closer to not needing me any more...I am really proud of him for working at it.  It took Max just one day to master.

Last Tuesday we experienced our first earthquake.  Although the center of the earthquake was in Virginia, the shakes could be felt as far north as New York.  Brad felt it on the 4th floor of his office building.  Max and I could feel it shaking the roads around as we drove home from a mid afternoon movie date.  GeeBee, the most traumatized of all of us, could feel it in the house as pictures fell off the walls.  It was quite the moving experience!

Last Wednesday Max had his first day of first grade.  (is that a double first?)  Max's new teacher is Mrs, Lattuca, and although he is not with any of his old classmates from kindergarten, Max had a great first day.  When I picked him up at the end of the day he said it was great and his new teacher is really nice!

Last Saturday/Sunday we experienced our first hurricane.  Although we now live in the east, I never really expected to go though a hurricane.  Hurricane Irene came a barreling down on us on Saturday night around 9:00 p.m.  And by midnight both Brad and I were up checking for any damage.  We were lucky to only be without power for an hour or two, and the damage we suffered is minor.  (although Brad might not agree that the leaks in the basement are considered minor)  Most of the storm had blown over by 2:00 p.m. on Sunday.

I thank God that we all safely survived this week of "firsts".

i can't believe that school starts tomorrow...{JEANNI}

Many of you have noticed a lack of blog posts during July and August.

Here at the Kutz house we have had many visitors and have also spent a few weeks in MN.  Here are some highlights of our last few weeks of summer...
