are you freaked out mama...{BRAD}

Yes, yes I am freaked out! Need I say more?

Brad assures me that this is just boys being boys.  But after a week of crashes, bike ramps, jumpin' off rocks, and running around the neighborhood with friends, my boy is looking a little beaten and battered!

it's a pop-a-wheelie...{MAX}

In the last month Max has really fallen in love with his bike that nana and papa Kutz gave him for his 5th birthday.  Although he had already knew how to ride his bike, it is as if he has just discovered it for the for time.  Every day after school, Max will come home and ride his bike for a as long as Brad and I will let him.
So of course Brad got the brilliant idea to teach Max some tricks he could do on his bike.  And what is the best trick you can do on a bike?  Pop-a-wheelies of course!  Brad explained in his engineer like way how Max would need to crouch down on his seat and then explode with power when he came to the curb.  What Brad failed to do was explain that one should not come strait on to a curb (like a T) and try to jump up the curb.  (we are lucky that Max had his helmet on when he flew over the handle bars of his bike)

After all the teaching intricacies, Max did master his pop-a-wheelie.  Now it is one of his favorite moves on his bike!

can i sign up for hip hop classes...{MAX}

How many of you are shocked that the quote didn't come from me?  That is right, our little Max asked to enroll in dance classes at a studio.

Max will be dancing at MGM Dance Studio in Shrewsberry P.A. on Tuesday nights.  He is taking an all boys hip hop class with Miss Katie.  So far there are 5 boys in the class, with the youngest being 6 years old and the oldest 9 years old.

Max will even get to participate in an end of year studio recital.  (He is very excited to dance in front of people.)  So...if you are looking some something exciting to do in early June, head on out to P.A. and watch Max Factor bust a move!

go pack go...{JEANNI}

Tonight is a special night here at the Kutz house...the start of the NFL season!

Tonight's season opener will feature the Super Bowl Champions the Green Bay Packers against the Saints.  And although Max will not be awake to see the outcome of the game, he will get to stay up a bit past bed time to see a few plays of the game.

we went junkin'...{BRAD}

Over the holiday weekend our family went to a flea market near Ephrata P.A.  The whole family always has a ton of fun searching for “treasures”.  (our house is currently filled with such treasures as an old ladder, fruit scale, pots,  and a Brunswick phonograph)

Our newest treasure…a railroad switch lantern.  Brad plans on repainting some of the colored plates and rewiring the light.  Max also picked up an old lock and key set.

well, we survived an earthquake and a hurricane...{BRAD}

This week was full of many exciting "firsts" at the Kutz house...

Last Monday Max learned how to tie his first shoe laces.  And although I am sure this just brings my baby one step closer to not needing me any more...I am really proud of him for working at it.  It took Max just one day to master.

Last Tuesday we experienced our first earthquake.  Although the center of the earthquake was in Virginia, the shakes could be felt as far north as New York.  Brad felt it on the 4th floor of his office building.  Max and I could feel it shaking the roads around as we drove home from a mid afternoon movie date.  GeeBee, the most traumatized of all of us, could feel it in the house as pictures fell off the walls.  It was quite the moving experience!

Last Wednesday Max had his first day of first grade.  (is that a double first?)  Max's new teacher is Mrs, Lattuca, and although he is not with any of his old classmates from kindergarten, Max had a great first day.  When I picked him up at the end of the day he said it was great and his new teacher is really nice!

Last Saturday/Sunday we experienced our first hurricane.  Although we now live in the east, I never really expected to go though a hurricane.  Hurricane Irene came a barreling down on us on Saturday night around 9:00 p.m.  And by midnight both Brad and I were up checking for any damage.  We were lucky to only be without power for an hour or two, and the damage we suffered is minor.  (although Brad might not agree that the leaks in the basement are considered minor)  Most of the storm had blown over by 2:00 p.m. on Sunday.

I thank God that we all safely survived this week of "firsts".

i can't believe that school starts tomorrow...{JEANNI}

Many of you have noticed a lack of blog posts during July and August.

Here at the Kutz house we have had many visitors and have also spent a few weeks in MN.  Here are some highlights of our last few weeks of summer...
