do I eat the stick...{MAX}

Today was a big day for us.  MAX ATE MEAT…willingly!  For dinner tonight, Max had a corn dog.  He actually picked it out and was happy to have it on his plate.  Can you believe it?  The only thing that Max had trouble with, “do I eat the stick?”

why does this thing crack...{JEANNI}

Right now I am currently in a battle…and I am defiantly not winning!  And just who is my enemy?  A lemon cheese cake!
Cheese cakes are one of those deserts that look wonderful and are so tasty.  There are many different ways to “spice” up the cheese cake to make it fit many different menus.  This last weekend I made a lemon cheese cake with a chocolate crust.  I usually have great luck with my cheese cake, that is until the last few minutes when my cheese cake decides to crack.
During the last few attempts to bake a perfect cheese cake, I am becoming more and more upset with…THE CRACK.  I have baked the cheese cake at a lower temp, reduced the baking time, and yes…I have given my cheese cake a water bath.  And still I say…”Why does this thing crack?”

did you make your bed today buddy...{JEANNI}

Lately Max has been taking on more daily chores around the house like feeding the dog and making his bed.  Every morning I ask Max, “Did you make your bed today buddy?”   I am always surprised at what a good job he does remembering.
He doesn’t make his bed quite the same way I would, but I love the little boy charm.  Here is a picture of his bed making skills…  (notice the neatly stacked pillows and how he tried to pull back the comforter)

I thought that this would also be a good time to include pictures of our house for those of you who may not have seen it, or haven’t seen it in a while.

can we paint our chuthers today...{MAX}

I will start with what our chuthers is.  “Our chuthers”  is how Max says “each other.”  Just like every young child, there are a few words that Max would misspeak.  Although it is so funny to hear, “no momma, my do it” or “air clain”, Brad and I would try to correct Max as he grew.  Our chuthers is one of those saying we just always giggle when we hear.  And so far…it has stuck…
Now you still may be asking yourself…why would anyone paint our chuthers, I mean each other?  Well this last fall, on a particularly slow afternoon, Max and I were outside waiting for Brad to come home.  We had already exhausted all of the regular games and ideas.  In an attempt to find something new and exciting for Max and I to do…I thought I would get out the water color paints and we could paint the sidewalk instead of using chalk.
I thought I was a genius…little did I know that Max would not be so excited about it.  That is until we both realized that painting the sidewalk…that was old news.  Now painting each other, that is playtime gold!  We had the best afternoon painting animals on each other.
We didn’t get to paint our chuthers today, but we hope to soon.  And when we do…I will make sure to let you know!

look, I stretched it out...{MAX}

Max is working so very hard on his writing and reading.  It is amazing to see how much he grows each day.
Mrs. Owen has taught Max to “stretch” out words when reading and writing.  When Max stretches out each sound in a word, he is able to read words like tortoise and groundhog.  Stretching out words also helps him get the more subtle sounds when he is writing.
 He is becoming more and more excited about learning…and Brad and I could not be more proud.
